Where Dizzy Ducks hatched...

This is where the Dizzy Ducks story began. Our first nursery, purpose built by us to accommodate 30 children, is sited in the grounds of Buttsbury Infants School. It opened in 2005 and has cared for over 400 children during that time. Some of our original families still use us… with their third and fourth babies!

Rooms & Facilities

Rooms and Facilities

Garden Area

Just six babies per day are allowed to join us in our baby room. This ensures that our youngest Dizzy Ducks can enjoy lots of one to one care and attention throughout the day. The Baby Room at Buttsbury has direct access to a secure Baby Garden which allows the young babies to play safely away from the older children. The baby garden is well shaded and makes a great place for story time and picnics in the summer.

We have between six and eight babies in here per day dependant on their ages. The Tots room cares for children between approximately 15 months and 2 and a half. This room is full of dressing up, messy play, art and craft and “make believe” to develop young minds. All play is structured around the individual needs of the child.

From about 2 and a half, children can access our preschool room. With direct access onto our “Outdoor Classroom” children have the ability to learn outside. Each day the outside area is set up with similar activities to inside. Our staff ensure that curriculum planning meets the individual needs of the child and ensures that they have an excellent foundation in Early Learning before they leave us for school

Garden Area

Our garden is set up with soft grass play surfacing, a digging area, a planting area, a musical area and a special section for babies. We also have a surfaced area under the canopy to ensure that we can go outside whatever the weather! Learning in the outdoors is so much fun!

Absolutely love Dizzy Ducks Buttsbury! My son is thriving there and settled so quickly. He spends the days he isn’t there asking to see his keyworkers and friends.
I love the EY Log seeing pictures/videos and updates of what my son is up to on the days he is in nursery and it is great to allow access to more than one person in the family to see this.

Gemma Upham (Mum to Archie)

Our child's key worker is a fantastic credit to dizzy ducks. She has an amazing way with her in that she is enthusiastic every day when we see her and really cheerful and positive. It may sound like an obvious trait but it means she makes our child feel really special daily and secure which is a great environment to then learn and play.

Vicki is always professional, cheerful and on top of things which as parents we find very reassuring. Extra touches such as phone calls to say teddy had been left behind by accident (which could have made bedtime tricky!) demonstrate a high level of committment and thoughtfulness which is much appreciated. On a few occasions when Benedict has been away due to illness Vicki has sent texts enquiring after him which are nice to receive and again demonstrate a high level of commitment.

Mrs Guthrie

My daughters both love Dizzy Ducks. They have forged great bonds with all of the staff.
My youngest daughter has always been very cuddly and shy of other people, she has flourished at the nursery. On non-nursery days, she often brings me her bag as if to say she wants to go and play, please!
The nursery’s attitude has always been ‘what can we do for your child?’. They have embraced my routine and choices so my girls have consistency.
My daughters have both had different medical conditions and all the staff have been aware of their needs and mindful of them.
They are all very welcoming, kind, patient and helpful people. We had a family event and they accommodated my niece at short notice so she was cared for with my children which made her so comfortable.
I am so grateful to all the staff for looking after my children whilst I work. They all work so hard and are always smiling and kind. The enrichment and the early education they provide my girls is much appreciated.

Liz Howard (Mum to Charlotte and Imogen)

Turtle bus is a lightweight, 6 seater buggy equipped with seat belts and detachable baby seats so that even our youngest little ducklings can enjoy an outing. It enables us to take children out of the nursery to enjoy the local area, including the park, woods and surrounding areas. The children at Dizzy Ducks nursery absolutely love an outing on the turtle bus!
