Harlow Nursery goes from strength to strength
Dizzy Ducks Day Nurseries wins 'Best Nursery and Preschool 2015' by Essex Mums and rated 'Good' by Ofsted.
Over the past year the new management team at Dizzy Ducks Day Nursery in Harlow has been committed to improving practice and providing the high quality childcare for children and their families. As a result, on the 26th September 2015 OFSTED rated the nursery care as “Good”.
This great achievement has also been acknowledged by Essex Mums, who awarded the nursery chain as ‘Best nursery/pre-school in Essex for 2015’ as well as industry experts Nursery World and Nursery Management Today who have shortlisted the nursery chain for awards.
Georgie Fry, Nursery Manager said, “Our main focus has been to build and develop a setting whereby we put the child at the heart of what we do. We understand that every child is individual, so our highly qualified team go the extra mile to access appropriate training, resources and support to provide a positive learning experience.”
Ofsted noted this in the report, saying: ‘They [the children] are keen and enthusiastic, taking part in a range of interesting and challenging activities and engaging resources. Staff interact with children skilfully, asking purposeful questions, encouraging them to think and do things for themselves.’
Awards recognise strong parental partnerships
Our nursery strives to maintain an open relationship with our parents at Harlow. We welcome their thoughts, ideas and feedback in order to improve areas that matter to them.
We are delighted to be recognised by Essex Mums, who voted Dizzy Ducks Day Nurseries as ‘Best Nursery/Preschool of the year’. The award was voted by 30,000 mums and dads across Essex.
The nursery chain was also shortlisted for a prestigious Nursery World Award and NMT Awards. These awards recognise nurseries who engage effectively with parents through online and social media channels.
Parents told us during our yearly parents' survey that they wanted us to communicate with them online. So in 2015 we have invested in providing parents with helpful advice and information with what’s happening in the nursery through facebook, emails, website and magazines.
New for this year we have introduced a new online learning journey system - parents receive updates on their children's development, find out what they have eaten and the activities they have completed through a secure online app. This also allows parents to view, contribute and comment on their child’s learning journey online.
We have received glowing reviews from parents about the system, 'Easy to set up, l have been using the app for the iPhone - its easy to navigate. Lovely to see observations and pictures and how it relates to EYFS and being able to access anytime. Good format to be able to make comments too. Katherine Mumford mum to Oliver.
