Dizzy Ducks in Harlow says G’day to Australia Day
It may be wet and chilly outside, but the children at Dizzy Ducks Day Nursery in the Harlow Leisurezone brought a little sunshine into the nursery by celebrating Australia Day on Friday 26th January. There were lots of activities for the children, aged 3 months to 4 years old, to enjoy including: creating their own colourful boomerang; finger painting the Australian flag and eating a yummy Aussie menu, created by our top Chef, that included traditional Lamington.
Every month, Dizzy Ducks Day Nurseries holds a special event to help the children learn about different cultures, countries and festivals. This month they have learnt about Australia. The nursery, which has 44 children attending, has encouraged babies to explore blue, red and white playdoh strengthening their gross motor skills. The Tots created textured animal pictures using different medias, there were Koalas, Kangaroos and Crocodiles! And the Pre-schoolers went on a nail biting bug hunt to see what critters they could find in the ‘Dizzy Duck outback’. Each activity is designed to help the children enhance their natural sense of curiosity and make new discoveries.
Jade Power, Nursery Manager said “The children had an amazing time jumping around like ‘roo’s and slithering like snakes. The children were so proud of their wonderful artwork that they created with their friends. It was fantastic to see their faces as they discovered the creepie crawlies and tasted our homecooked Australian meal of homemade Aberdeen Angus beef sliders and Lamington cake. Our children love these nursery events.”
Dizzy Ducks’ next event is a Music and Movement Open Week from 29th January – 2nd February where new families are welcome to come to the nursery, receive a tour and join in the activities throughout the day.
