Our Ethos

Treating your child as if they were our own

The Ethos behind Dizzy Ducks is very simple. We believe that allowing children access to good quality preschool education enhances their future life chances. It is proven that children who experience early years education are more advanced at the end of their Foundation Stage at School. It is therefore our duty to provide excellent opportunities for children to learn and develop with us. We ensure that we maintain the very highest levels of care for our young 'ducks' while they attend nursery.

We recognise that each child is an individual and has specific needs. Our staff are trained to look at each child's individual care and learning requirements and tailor each day's activities to their needs.

We are open 7am - 7pm Monday to Friday 52 weeks per year (excluding Bank Holidays).

Why Choose Us?

We pride ourselves on being a dynamic, innovative, forward thinking nursery group with a vision to look at the world through your child’s eyes. The development, thoughts, feelings and experiences of the children in our care are at all times our utmost priority. We continuously search for ways to improve upon the award winning Dizzy Ducks experience and to further develop and grow our nursery settings. We deliver outstanding, quality childcare.

To help us do this we not only review ourselves from a child’s perspective but we are also willing to listen and take on board feedback from our parents. You and your children are more than just our customers and your opinion counts. Reassuringly, our Senior Management team are all parents whose children have been or still are part of the Dizzy Ducks family

Aidan is settling in fantastically! He is absolutely loving Baby Room 3. The only tears have been mummy's. I have total confidence in the nursery, and I am so impressed with his keyworker's knowledge, professionalism and intuition. We moved to Essex in May and agonised over child care, but feel very fortunate to have such a fantastic facility on our door step.”

10 Years of Award Winning Childcare

Birthday Duck.jpg 10 years ago on the 21st November 2005, Dizzy Ducks Buttsbury was opened.

Since then our ethos hasn't changed. Your child is the most important person in the world to             you. They deserve to be encouraged, nurtured, supported and loved. When we look at                       developing our nursery we ask ourselves “Would we want this for our own children, or family       members?” It’s a trait that filters through all our nurseries and practitioners

In the last 10 years, we have grown to 5 nurseries and a Head Office with 140 team members, however, our children and families remain at the heart of what we do.

In order for you to understand what exciting activities your child has been doing at nursery we hand out a ‘Daily Sheet’ at the end of every session. This details what your child has done during the day, what they have eaten, drank, when they slept and for how long. We can tell you exactly how much food your child has eaten and when their nappies were changed during the day. We can tell you what they enjoyed doing and what they learnt during their day! Every day is a fun day at Dizzy Ducks, come and see for yourself.

Food and healthy eating is very important to us!

Healthy eating is so important to growing bodies and developing minds...

At Dizzy Ducks, all of our sites have the Essex County Council's 5 stars for Healthy Eating. All our meals are cooked fresh, from scratch using as much fresh vegetables and fruit as we can pack in!

Our menus are wide and varied ranging from homemade curry to the nursery favourites such as fish pie and spaghetti bolognese. Menus are changed depending on the season. Lots of soups, pastas and

hearty stews in winter and then salads, wraps and lighter bites in the warmer summer months.

  • Weaning menu planned weekly dependent on your child's needs
  • All menus are available from your Nursery Manager
  • Naturally we accommodate children with food allergies, we carry out relevant risk assessments
  • We support breast feeding mothers and can safely store your milk
  • Any specific dietary requirements can be discussed during settling in sessions

Staff & Qualifications

National standards suggest that 50% of staff should have a Level 2 childcare qualification – at Dizzy Ducks at least 75% of our staff are qualified to a Level 3, a handful of those are Level 4 qualified, and we have a significant number of Graduates who have achieved a Degree in Early Years! We only ever employ staff who are qualified, or who are undergoing recognised Early Years training - we are very proud of our staff and what they have achieved. We believe that this means that we can offer a better standard of care and education to those children in our care. Each room has one Room Leader (minimum qualification Level 3) and Room Staff. Your child will have a Key Person who will be responsible for planning purposeful, age and stage appropriate activities for your child.
